Monferrato, a jewel in the hills

Monferrato

Its territory, almost entirely hilly in nature, is included within the provinces of Alessandria and Asti and extends southwards to the foot of the Ligurian Apennines on the border with the metropolitan city of Genova.

In 2014 it was included in the UNESCO list of assets along with Langhe and Roero.

This region is famous for its wines. DOC Monferrato wines can wither to generic types Red and White and the most used are autochthonous grape varieties such as Barbera and Nebbiolo, while the international ones are Cabernet, Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir.
