Description
Dalmatia is located in the southern part of Croatia and occupies that part of the coast that goes from Zadar to Dubrovnik, with a coastal extension of more than 6000 km and a double cordon of islands parallels the coast, separated by channels and narrow shallow.
The climate is mild and warm and the sea has incredible colours from turquoise to aquamarine due to the backdrops ranging from sand to rock.
It is usually divided into Northern, Central and Southern Dalmatia: Northern Dalmatia includes the territory between the rivers Zrmanja and Krka and the cities Zadar to Sibenik with the islands of the respective archipelagos. Central Dalmatia goes from the river Krka to the river Neretva and includes the towns between Trogir and Split and Southern Dalmatia covers the territory from the river Neretva to Konavli following the borders of the ancient Republic of Ragusa.
The coastal region of Dalmatia includes 725 islands, islets and reefs, of this wealth 55 are permanently inhabited islands, one of these is Hvar, the king among the Dalmatian islands. It is considered one of the 10 most beautiful islands in the world, and attracts the attention of many guests, scientists and travellers because of its Mediterranean nature, tradition and nightlife.
