and the huge Temples

Paestum has a long (15 km) and wide beach, washed by the sea of the Cilento. A very large pine stands between the coastal road and the beach. In the shelter of his coolness in the hottest hours, it's really nice for a meal and relax before returning to the beach! Not far from the beach there are the majestic temples of Paestum, very well kept. Hera was dedicated to the largest and oldest temple, known as the basilica. Then the temple of Poseidon. The third was dedicated to Athena, the ancient goddess of wisdom, and was named Ceres.

The archaeological site of Paestum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988 is surrounded by walls and towers well preserved. Not far away you can explore the rich museum containing objects of ancient Greek and manufacturing mainly local vegetation, found in various cemeteries in the surroundings. The highlight of the museum consists of paintings found in the so-called tomb of the diver, the only remaining example of Greek painting of Magna Graecia. Paestum is the center of the Piana del Sele, the home of buffalo mozzarella, a traditional cheese tasty awarded the DOP, irreplaceable part of the pizza margherita and the real treat that attracts many visitors from the excavations. You can end your visit to one of the many dairies that offer guided tours and a tasting of mostly mozzarella in its various forms.
