Baglio Genovesi - Noto

Located on the slopes of the Hyblean Mountains, Baglio Genovesi (in Sicilian the term “bagghiu” indicates a farm with a big courtyard) stands in the centre of a land property cultivated with olive, almond and carob trees. It overlooks Noto with a broad terrace, from which in summer it is possible to admire the beautiful monuments of the town highlighted by the golden sunsets, while in winter the incredible flowering of the almond trees with their heady and delicate scents spreads in the Val di Noto.

You’ll have the feeling to caress the majestic Cathedral of San Nicolò, its big dome and the Baroque palaces around the historical centre of this wonderful town: Noto – the “Stone Garden”. On your right the Gulf of Noto, reachable in few minutes by car, will dazzle your eye with its deep blue.

The farm enterprise Genovesi grows dozens of centuries-old olive trees in full productivity, attesting the land fertility and the careful use of its resources, that can ensure the best agricultural products to its inhabitants. Just a few metres from the Baglio, inside the family Genovesi’s property, the superb “Olive Tree of Busulmone” rises up with its lush crown: officially surveyed among the monumental trees of Sicily, this tree has an estimated age of 1300/1500 years and a circumference of nearly 13m.

A recently grafted almond plantation surrounds the Baglio and with more than 5.000 young plants can offer a precious tasting of these valuable fruits.

Baglio Genovesi is an oasis of peace and silence immersed in a relaxing hilly countryside, located however only 600m far away from the town.
