As if you are on a movie set

For a long time Cadaqués was a simple fishing village, almost isolated from the world because of the mountains and forests surrounding it. Thanks to the work of Salvador Dalí it has become one of the most beautiful sea resorts on the Costa Brava, close by to the French coast. It is also called the hidden gem because it is still relatively undiscovered. It is the town where the artist Salvador Dalí lived for a long part of his life. To find out more about Dalí you can visit his villa that has become a museum recently. It is located at the beach platja Portlligat, and the house is easily recognizable with its egg-shaped roof. This style of art often comes forth in the artist’s work. The characteristics of this sea resort are the small houses with blue roofs and narrow alleyways. Thanks to Dalí’s influence, inhabitants of Cadaqués are quite demanding with regards to new housing estates. Buildings are not allowed to be higher than three floors. In this way the town has always kept its authenticity.

Iglesia de Santa María
In the old centre of Cadaqués, at the highest point of the city centre, you can find the Santa Maria church. This spot is also one of the best views of the city. For access to the church and beautiful surroundings, you must first climb the steep white streets of Cadaqués. From time to time you can ask a villager for the best route considering the zigzag path to reach it. The church called Santa Maria is a characteristic religious establishment. It can be noted that the whole exterior of the church is white, similar to the seaside resort Cadaqués.

El Barroco
El Barroco
is one of the restaurants that you could try out when visiting Cadaqués. It was Dalí’s favourite restaurant and the artist consequently developed their logo. The décor of the restaurant is inspired by the artist’s style. The restaurant is located in an old oil mill in Cadaqués. It is made up of a colourful floral courtyard where it seems as if the time stops and magic begins. The cuisine is Lebanese and full of surprises. Every meal is a flavorsome fusion of magical, Oriental scents and subtle spices. It is a unique culinary experience in a friendly, authentic atmosphere. For vegetarians there is also a lot of choice in this restaurant. The recipes are delightful and still quite undiscovered with typical dishes from the Mediterranean Sea and the Lebanese cuisine.
