City of the Templars
If you are fascinated by the secrets of the Knights Templar then you cannot miss a visit to Tomar. A pretty city where there is a park on the riverside with the Mata Nacional Dos Sete Montes in the background where a walk is necessary to release any stress. The original nucleus of the city is in the shape of a cross oriented according to the cardinal points, on each side of the cross there is a convent. From the main square Praça da República you can start discovering the various alleys by discovering small cafés that serve typical sweets such as almond or pumpkin. You can end the walk in the cool of the Parque do Mouchã where you can admire a perfectly preserved water mill. If you decide to rent a car, you can explore the surroundings of Tomar by choosing the route of the Templar castles or visiting one of the seven natural wonders of Portugal, the caves of Mira de Aire. The state road then passes through a dig which has created a large long artificial lake with jagged contours, in short, a beautiful landscape spectacle even if partly created by man.
