A very unique thing is the view of the coast, Giardini-Naxos, and Mount Etna from the Villa Comunale in Taormina.
The Alcantara Gorge is about 20 km away from Taormina and is undoubtedly a place of extreme beauty. Thousands of years ago, lava flowed into the Alcantara River; as the lava quickly cooled in the water, there were created beautiful sculptures.
It's an ideal place to rest and have a picnic in the shade during the hot summer months. You can swim in the always cool water or take part in the excursions organized in the nature park.
