The fortress, from the simple and austere architecture, was built in the eleventh century and was located in an area completely fortified with walls and watchtowers. In addition to the Castle, in the old town of Termoli is another symbol of the city: the Cathedral of St. Basso. Founded in the twelfth century on the remains of earlier churches, the Cathedral is one of the finest examples of Romanesque church in the region. The facade is a hut and in the lower part is decorated with a series of blind arches, while the interior has three naves, an apse. The most peculiar attraction is the Trabucchi Certainly, tools once used by fishermen to hoist the nets after fishing.
