Where the oil is produced with the old methods

Imperia is the most western province of Liguria. The province is known for the production of olive oil and strong presence of food companies.

The capital is Imperia and owes its name to the river Impero, which divides the historic sites Oneglia and Porto Maurizio in half, now merged into one center. Porto Maurizio is the most ancient part of the city with a maze of narrow streets and alleys almost vertically situated on a rock. Here you will find also the largest church in Liguria: Duomo Basilica di San Maurizio.

In the province of Imperia, we find beautiful medieval villages like Badalucco with its delicious cuisine, Taggia known for its delicious olive taggiasche, Dolcedo with extra virgin olive oil of high quality and Valloria with its painted doors that form a true work of art. Definitely worth a visit.
