Bari and Grotte di Castellana

Bari

The historical center of Bari is truly distinctive, a sight you mustn't miss. Every possible tour surely starts with the Basilica di San Nicola. Then, you'll find yourself in the narrow winding streets, where you'll smell the aromas of the amazing kitchens.
The Cathedral of San Sabino is one of the most important and visited monuments in Bari, the heart of Bari Vecchia, located at Piazza dell'Odegitria. The church was originally dedicated to Santa Maria, and its strict yet harmonious architecture resembles that of the Basilica di San Nicola, another place of tribute in Bari that is of fundamental importance.

Grotte di Castellana
The Castellana Caves are the least explored area of Italy. The 1 km tour takes you along charming spots. The longer route (3 km) of three hours passes through caves and ravines with mythological and fabulous names. From the Grave to the Black Grotto, passing by the Owl's Cave and the Snake Pit, the Abyss Cave and the Little Paradise, you reach the White Grotto, named the most beautiful cave in the world. The caves in this karst area (formed by limestone) extend much further than the paths open to the public, hiding a multitude of natural artworks created by water streams to the depths of the earth, like colorful stalactites and stalagmites, fluorescent alabaster, and underground lakes. A world that could only be created by the imagination of nature and has been made accessible, guided by professional guides, for those who wish to experience the sense of mystery and adventure.
