Pula, the capital of the Istrian peninsula, is a seductive coastal city that you will remember for its iconic Roman amphitheater with the sea in the background. The arena of Pula is not the only evidence of Roman times that you can see in the city: walking through the historic center you can admire the remains of the Roman walls, a temple dedicated to Augustus and a triumphal arch. There is a good choice of beaches in the surrounding area, where you can sunbathe or play sports, while in the evening you can have fun in one of the clubs in the city center. Pula is a good base for exploring other famous places in Istria such as Porec or Rovinj; other interesting attractions in the surrounding area, perfect for a day trip, are the Kamenjak park, the village of Medulin and the Brijuni islands.
