Wine Trip To Istria and Zagreb

from: €604 p.p.

Number of nights: 9

We made up this Fly&Drive specially for the wine lovers!

Istria is a perfect blend of Mediterranean influence with many sea beaches and hidden bays, but also a countryside with hilltops, floral meadows and vineyards. Your journey begins at Hotel San Tommaso - we love its rustic ambience for an authentic experience and winery that will for sure satisfy your wine palates. Rovinj is one of the most romantic destinations in Istria and just 20 min away.

Hotel Peteani is known for its extensive local wine list but also top-notch Istrian traditional food. Its modernly equipped interior still blends with the local imaginary for your comfortable stay. Labin is the largest town in the eastern Istria, from where you can reach Rabac to take a boat to Vodice or Cres, known for their many beaches with hidden bays.

Vuglec breg is a special treat – a unique wine estate, stretching over an area of 12 hectares in the heart of Zagorje. Ideal setting during the hot summer days, offering authentic independent houses decorated in a rustic style ( or “hiža” in Zagorski). Their award winning wines and sparkling wines will for sure uplift your memorable stay in Croatia.

This holiday is to indulge your cultural, gastronomic and spiritual senses!

Relais and Wine San Tommaso3 nights

Relais and Wine San Tommaso is a massive renovated 150-years old estate that preserves the charm of the Istrian stone buildings. Enjoy a glass or wine (or two!) by the terrace until late, in a full relaxing atmosphere, until the sun goes down the hill, ready for dinner. The restaurant of Relais San Tommaso serves only local products Km0 ,and of course their excellent wine production. You can refresh in a lovely swimming in those warm summer days or chill after a day visiting the Istrian region.

We really advise to visit Rovinj for a city stroll in the evening or take a swim in one of the nearby beaches like Amarin, Porton or Baluota.

You can also visit Hum, the smallest medieval town in the world with only 30 local souls. Motovun, an uphill fortress city, today known for its film festivals, or Dvigrad, another medieval beauty with preserved city walls.

Hotel Peteani3 nights

Hotel Peteani, settled just beneath the old town of Labin gives you privacy but also an easy access to a city stroll in the evenings. Labin is known as a sightsee for art and culture lovers, and just 5km from the sea. The best time to visit are the summer months (July and August) when Labin Art Republic is held which offers an abundance of cultural, entertaining and educational contents in the entire town.

There are also many wine producers in the area of Pazin such as Gortan winery or Anđelini where you can have an inside look of their wine production. Wish to have a glass of wine in a “noble” style? Then Castle Belaj will be a special treat for you! This historically preserved estate has a record of a vineyard from the 16th century.

Pension Vuglec Breg3 nights

Zagorje is a special area to visit as you continue your journey towards Central Croatia: well known for its endless green fields, mystic forests, and small but sometimes very steeply hills and – vineyards! Looking for a special place to stay? Vuglev Breg is our top pick for you! Positioned on a hill at about 300 metres above the sea level (which makes an ideal setting during the hot summer days), it offers an authentic Zagorje experience with many outdoor activities such as a bike tour or quad bike ride; sport fields for football, tennis and volleyball; or a pony ride. There is also a restaurant and a wine cellar.

We really advise you to visit Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, where the old town is known as the Upper Town and the Lower Town. The Upper Town is great for sightseeing with an old church of St Marc, Stone Gates, Bloody Bridge and more. There is also Dolac, vibrant open market with local fruit and vegetables. Kaptol is just next to it, an old area with the Gothic style Cathedral. In the Lower Town you can take a stroll and view romantic Zrinjevac, well known park in the heart of local people, or Croatian National Theatre to see a play or admire its architectural beauty.

Need a break with a fine glass of wine? We suggest to visit Basement Wine Bar - ts interior is charming, reminding of a cellar where you can relax and taste more than 90 types of different Croatian wines!
