Castelmezzano and Pietrapertosa

learn to fly: Volo dell'Angelo

Pietrapertosa and Castelmezzano
The Dolomiti Lucane is characterized by its high peaks. The mountain tops bear names like 'the golden eagle,' 'the anvil,' 'the mother,' and 'the owl.' This mountain range is part of a mountainous area that is a staggering 15 million years old. Nearby the Dolomites, in the heart of Basilicata, you'll find two picturesque villages: Castelmezzano and Pietrapertosa.
Both villages offer stunning views of the surroundings. Visiting the monumental old town of Pietrapertosa, composed of narrow streets that ascend to the top of Dolomiti Lucane, is a unique experience. The village seamlessly blends with the natural environment it's nestled in. The mountain, shaped over millennia by weather conditions, is like a giant sculpture of a thousand years old, surrounding Pietrapertosa and Castelmezzano.
These two villages are like crown jewels in the green heart of Basilicata. Pietrapertosa and Castelmezzano live in symbiosis with each other. Separated by a valley with a depth of 700 meters, both villages face each other in the heart of Basilicata.
