Valle delle Ferriere

wild nature close to Amalfi

In the heart of Amalfi lies the Valle delle Ferriere nature reserve, a remarkable and picturesque world waiting to be discovered. Let your gaze wander over the stunning view, known for its kaleidoscopic scenarios of a fabulous landscape.
Situated in the Mediterranean region, Valle delle Ferriere surprises with its array of colors, light effects, vegetation, and waterfalls in alternating zones that are reminiscent of tropical countries.
Thanks to its abundant water supply, rare tropical flora thrives here, including the "Woodwardia radicans." Here there are also "living fossils" dating back to the Tertiary period.

This area is also enriched by its colorful flora, such as orchids that come in various vibrant hues and the pink flowers of the carnivorous plant "Pinguicola Hirtiflora," which feeds on small insects.
The environment serves as an ideal habitat for various species and organisms, amphibians, for example, and the otters which with a bit of luck can be spotted in the bend of the Canneto river as it searches for trout. Among the different appearances, there are also aquatic insects like dragonflies, caddisflies, ephemera, as well as leaping frogs, birds, and other mammals.
La Valle delle Ferriere houses ancient ruins where paper production took place with high-quality paper stock. The unforeseen existence of these ruins imparts an additional layer of charm and enchantment to the stroll through this region.
