Furore, Conca de' Marini

Furore and Conca de' Marini: fiord and grotto

Conca dei Marini

Although less known than other villages along the Amalfi Coast, Conca dei Marini is no less attractive. It is a small village nestled in the Bay of Naples, a gem on the Amalfi Coast. A visit here is definitely worthwhile; the stunning Emerald Grotto (Grotto dello Smeraldo) makes the Conca an interesting sight.
The grotto is like a cove along the coast, where all the spectacular colors of nature reveal themselves to anyone who enters. In addition to the natural beauty of Conca dei Marini, the village also boasts interesting buildings; the Santa Rosa Monastery and the Church of St. Anthony of Padua with its beautifully tiled bell tower and the Tower of Silence, which used to be a cemetery, are some examples.

Furore

Between the mountains and almost invisible to those who visit the Amalfi Coast, lies the town of Furore. Furore is a village situated between rugged cliffs and the sea. A typical Scandinavian phenomenon, the fjord, is also present here. With a view of the Tyrrhenian Sea, the houses are scattered along a cliff. It almost appears as if the houses could fall into the water.

Furore has two peculiarities; first, it is called the "painted town." Many curious graffiti and paintings can be seen along the road down from the cliff. Colorful and magnetic that characterize the town, from which the name of the town is derived.
The second unique feature is that this town has no center. The village is spread along the cliff, and there is no central shopping area to walk to. Every narrow alley leads to a house or a terrace with an exceptional panoramic view of the Amalfi Coast.
