Casale della Torre - Cortona, Arezzo

A fabulous country house between the Tuscany hills, the agriturismo Casale della Torre, is located in Cortona at the end of the beautiful treed avenue called Parterre. There are not many other locations that give you such a view of the valley. It is part of an 8 hectare farm with olive trees and woods; it's a perfect place for walking to discover nature.

From windows and the gardens, you can see an unbelievable view of Valdichiana, Lake Trasimeno and Montepulciano. The colors change with the seasons: the green of spring, the yellow of the grain in summer, the red of autumn and the white of the snow in winter. Guests can spend their time looking at the unforgettable sunsets.

From the agriturismo, it's possible to reach the historical center of Cortona in 15 minutes walking along the Parterre that is lit up for the evening. In the other direction, you can admire beautiful villas such as Bramasole, the home of famous author Frances Mayes. Also, in less than 20 minutes, you will arrive at Torreone, an old suburb under a medieval fortress called Girifalco. On this farm holiday you can enjoy the center of Cortona or relax at the villa in complete privacy.

All around the houses, you can find olive trees, gardens with wild flowers and plants and also a garden with vegetables and aromatic plants from which guests may pick.

At the Casale there is a beautiful infinity swimming pool with a large deck area with lounge chairs to spend time under the Tuscan sun. There are also outside tables, a bbq and a lot of space for relaxation.

COURSES
In the Casale, there is the opportunity to do many different activities,such as keeping in touch with nature, buying typical Tuscan products, learning to cook Tuscan style and making cheese.

The owner of the Casale, the Salvadori family, organizes a tasting of Tuscan products made on the farm like olive oil, wine, vinsanto and pecorino cheese.

For at least 4 people, it is possible to take part in a cooking class, including a cheese making course. The class concludes with dinner with the family. The courses are taught by Paola Salvadori in Italian but also in English. Paola teaches the secret to preparing typical dishes served with wine so you can show your friends and relatives a piece of Tuscany! The cheese courses are taught by Lapo showing how to prepare a typical “pecorino” cheese with unpasteurized milk as is the tradition. Lapo teaches how to transform milk into different kinds of cheese and how to conserve it.

Moreover the guests can take part in the grape harvesting in the later part of September and olive harvesting in October.
