Description
Locanda del Postino, on the island of Salina in Pollara, is located inside the largest and oldest crater of the Aeolian archipelago.
From the Locanda del Postino, overlooking the sea and protected behind by an amphitheater of mountains, you can admire spectacular sunsets and the beautiful islands Filicudi and Alicudi.
In Pollara the land is cultivated with capers, according to ancient tradition, and Malvasia is produced using only the best quality of grapes and processing methods handed down from father to son.
There are two important farms that produce Aeolian specialties and also sell them abroad.
The house has a long history. It belonged to the parish priest's family, housed a well-stocked library and was the largest and most central house in the country.
Unfortunately little remains of the ancient vestiges, but the attempt of the owners was to maintain the fundamental characteristics of the structure by recovering the ancient millstone and the "bagghiu" patio that surrounded the house.
La Locanda del Postino has 10 rooms with private bathroom, that can host 2, 3 or 4 guests.
The rooms are equipped with mini-bar, air conditioning, TV and a large outdoor patio with a hammock where you can spend pleasant hours of relaxation!
The breakfast buffet is available from 8.30 until you feel like getting up!
Homemade jams and cakes are a specialty.
