and the huge Temples

The temples of Agrigento are a splendid testament to the wealth of one of the most important Greek colonies in the West. The ancient Agrigento was spread across a vast area and is now known as the Valley of the Temples, thanks to the numerous religious structures and buildings that reflect its wealth and cultural development up to the 4th century BC.
The beautiful landscape is characterized by olive and almond trees, which still surround the archaeological area, much like they did centuries ago when they served as inspiration for poets and philosophers like Pindar and Empedocles.
The Valley of the Temples Park covers 1300 hectares and holds a unique architectural heritage, including the ruins of the ancient city of Akragas and the surrounding land up to the coast. The Valley was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1977 and, with approximately 450 hectares, it is one of the largest archaeological areas in the Mediterranean.
Eraclea Minoa - Scala dei Turchi
Eraclea Minoa beach in the province of Agrigento is 5 km of sandy coastline, flat, clean, shaped by the sea's waves.
It lies at the foot of a limestone ridge called Zingaro, atop of which lies an archaeological site with the remains of a Hellenistic city. There's a small theater there, offering a spectacular view over the sea horizon and the beautiful beach that stretches as far as the eye can see, interrupted only by the protected nature reserve at the mouth of the Platani river.
Along the beach, there are pine forests and dunes covered with Mediterranean vegetation. To reach the beach from the archaeological area, you can follow a path along the folds of the white rock or take the SS115 (follow the signs; the municipality is Cattolica Eraclea).
