The ‘hanging houses’ town

Cuenca is an age-old picturesque town and it belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1996. The town is located inland just outside the Valencia province. It is famous for the ‘casas colgadas’, or hanging houses built on a large rock and looks over the Huécar River. The medieval town has a lot to offer to culture lovers. Thanks to its location it is still relatively undiscovered and there are not many tourists around. It is a perfect place for taking beautiful photographs and at different spots the view is impressive. In the centre one can find Plaza Mayor, a meeting place for the local population to grab a bite or to enjoy a drink at a terrace. Here one can find the Baroque town hall and numerous characteristic houses in different colours.
