Sibillini Mountains

Between nature and man

The Parco Nazionale dei Monti Sibillini, dominated by Monte Vettore (2476 meters above sea level), conveys a harmonious relationship between nature and humanity, culture and the environment. It is a land steeped in legends associated with particularly enchanting places (such as the Grotta della Sibilla, a cave that once housed a priest with the ability to predict the future). Above all, it offers opportunities to explore the most beautiful ridges and peaks of the Sibillini Mountains on foot. One truly unmissable trail leads from Foce di Montemonaco to Lake Pilato, known as the "lake with glasses" due to its two adjacent pools of water, which are home to a unique and protected species of crustacean.

Montefortino and Amandola are both picturesque hilltop villages situated on the slopes of the Monti Sibillini, making them ideal starting points for numerous excursions.

Sarnano is a place where you can breathe in the fresh air of the Monti Sibillini, follow in the footsteps of St. Francis, wander through one of the best-preserved medieval villages in the Marche region, and savor a wide variety of gastronomic specialties, particularly cold meats and cheeses.
