Sitges is famous for the fun atmosphere and the many gays who have made this town their home. The town is also renown as the St. Tropez of Spain. In the past many wealthy Barcelonians picked Sitges as their holiday destination but recently it has become more accessible for everyone. What is unique at this beach resort is its authenticity with few high-rise buildings compared to other seaside resorts in Spain. Sitges is made up of many whitewashed stone houses inspired by Greek styles.

The beach
There are a total of 17 beaches in Sitges across 3 main stretches. Playas de centro is the most popular stretch and it is also the busiest area closest to town. One can find a variety of activities such as pedalos, sunbeds, showers, toilets and also many bars and restaurants. Obviously, the further away one ventures the quieter it gets. Playas Zona Levante and Zona Poniente are slightly further away from the city one can find hidden away coves within these beaches. Several of these coves are still relatively undiscovered and are trickier to access so it could be advised to use a scooter.

jewellery or a fabulous painting, everything is possible in Sitges. One can also find the famous church La punta in the historical centre. This church is considered to be the centre of the city. Most tourists come to this location to take in the panoramic beach views.
