A blooming cross-cultural film set

Similarly to Seville, Cordoba is located more inland within the Andalusian region. This ancient city has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its Mosque-Cathedral monument; referred to as the ‘Mezquita’. Later most of the old town also became part of the heritage landmark. The Mezquita is one of the world’s greatest Islamic buildings and has gradually become a worldwide symbol in the Arab culture. This attraction is a definite must-see while visiting Cordoba. The forest of red and white striped columns and arches within the building will surely take you by surprise. The Mezquita is a true gem combining Roman, Christian and Arab influences. A little further up the road, along the banks of Guadalquivir River, one can discover the Old City ramparts. Within the ancient town visitors can enjoy a variety of restaurants and wine bars, narrow winding streets dotted by souvenir shops, the old Jewish quarter and the Alcazar Palace. What should typically stand out in Corboda is the abundant amount of foliage in the parks, gardens and balconies. There are still traces visible of the Jewish influences in this area dating back to the Middle Ages, such as the well-preserved synagogue and the picturesque patios. So why not sit back and enjoy local delicacies on a terrace of the Plaza de la Corredera while taking in a unique fusion of cultures, religions and historical influences which makes Cordoba so special.
